How to Install a Taillight on the ETM RTR (Without Splicing or Screaming at Wires)

The ETM RTR is a killer bike, but let’s be real — the stock wiring situation is a little “figure it out yourself.” No taillight, no turn signals, no reverse, and definitely no clean way to add any of it. If you’ve ever tried rigging up rear lighting, there’s a good chance your bike ended up looking like a science project gone wrong.

So we built the Ampirra 12V Taillight + Turn Signal Kit. It’s made for ETM RTR riders running the Electro & Co DC-DC converter. No cutting, no soldering, no zip-tie art installations.

Here’s how to get it installed fast — and actually enjoy doing it.

Step 1: Make Sure You’re Running 12V

This kit is designed to work specifically with the Electro & Co DC-DC converter harness. If you haven’t installed one yet, start there — you need 12V power to run the taillight. Once that’s wired in, you’re good to go.

Step 2: Mount the Taillight

The taillight bolts right into the stock mudflap mounting holes on the subframe. No drilling, no glue, no prayers needed. We include a pair of longer screws so the light fits securely without bottoming out the threads.

Line it up, thread in the screws, and you’re done. It sits clean, doesn’t block anything, and clears the bike stand no problem.

Step 3: Install the Handlebar Switch

This one’s easy but might take a minute:

You’ll need to slide the throttle and brake lever off of the handlebars to make room for the switch housing. Loosen the clamps, pull them off, slide the switch on, and snug everything back down.

The switch is low profile and sits tight — no rattle, no bulk, and it gives you full control of the taillight and signals from your bars.

Step 4: Plug It In

The wiring is already crimped, labeled, and sized for the Electro & Co harness. Connect the taillight, the turn signals, and the handlebar switch. That’s it.

No splicing, no heat shrink, no “wait which one is ground?” moments.

Why Use a Kit at All?

Sure, you could DIY it. But most of the generic lighting kits out there don’t fit, don’t mount cleanly, and end up dangling like a garage sale special. This one’s made for the ETM. It bolts up, fits right, and actually looks intentional.

It’s Not Just a Taillight — It’s a Starting Point

The ETM doesn’t give you much to work with stock. This kit gives you a clean foundation to start building out a proper accessory system — whether it’s just the lights or more down the line.
